Waterloo Engineers join premier at AV testing event

Researchers from Autonomoose joined the Ontario Premier AV testing event on November 8, 2017 at Stratford. The premier event was to launch a testing zone for driverless cars, which is a part of a five-year, $80-million commitment by the province to establish the Autonomous Vehicle Innovation Network (AVIN) to advance research and development in the field.
Professor Krzysztof Czarnecki and eight other student researchers showcased our Autonomoose car at the event.

Top in 3D Detection
We are proud to announce that our perception team has achieved a new feat in the space of object detection. We currently rank third at the task of 3D object detection on the KITTI (A project of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and Toyota Technological Institute) benchmark. Moose first self-driving car on Ontario's roads
The Minister of Transportation named the Moose the first of three cars approved for the Autonomous Vehicle (AV) pilot program.

“I am pleased to announce that the University of Waterloo is one of the first approved applicants of our Automated Pilot Vehicle program. As a result, Waterloo will be among the first eligible to operate an autonomous vehicle on a public roadway in Canada,” said Del Duca.
